United Way of Henderson County Celebrates School Volunteer Day

More than 500 community volunteers came together to work on 42 service projects at 22 Henderson County schools as part of United Way of Henderson County’s annual Day of Action on Friday, Aug. 16.

Projects included painting walls, cleaning playgrounds, mulching, and many more. In addition to serving at local schools, volunteers donated non-perishable food donations for MANNA’s Packs for Kids and school supply items for Henderson County students in need.

“Day of Action is an incredible example of the way our community comes together to support our schools,” said Denise Cumbee Long, Executive Director of United Way of Henderson County. “We want our children to start the academic year in freshly painted classrooms with the supplies they need, and we want our teachers and school staff to know how much they are appreciated.”…..
